My pleasure. I tell my patients not to rub the areas for 2 hours in order to prevent moving the Botox to different muscles.
Thank you for your response. Do you advise your patients to avoid any particular activity (such as strenuous exercise) in the hours following botox injections?
my pleasure. Excellent luck.
Thank you Dr Naderi for your quick and thorough response (tough to diagnose w/out seeing me, I know). My injector said 2 weeks should give the real results. I’m 9 days in–we’ll see if there’s much change from this point (I’m dubious). I can’t choose if I’ll allow her to place in more if that’s what she suggests. I know she’s been going light on the units, esp. since this is the first time we’ve tried the eye area. I have typical 40yr ancient smile wrinkles…without botox that is
Thanks again!
You are right. But I have plenty of videos on this site that show very close detail as well. Some people don’t want to see the needle and blood up close.
Its hard to notice anything becuase the vid is so far away.
Botox should not make lines look worse. But, if a part of a muscle is paralyzed, the other parts of it can work extra hard. I routinely inject 5-6 places around the eyes and crows feet to get that entire area relaxed. Very young patients can get away with 1-3 injection zones in the crows feet area only. Its hard for me to tell what happened to you without seeing and examining you. You may want to avoid Botox to that area next time and then maybe look for another doctor and try it?
A few wks. back I had botox between my brows (fantastic results) and a small dose for crows feet. Done at a reputable location in Seattle. Unfortunately the injections around the eyes resulted in some new heavier wrinkles under my eys. I went back in, and the injector was very kind and felt confident that my smile lines were so strong around my eyes that I needed 2small doses UNDER my eyes. 2wks later, and I despise those heavy lines still. I’m only 40, but look 50 when I SMILE
Any thoughts?
There are other more recent videos on my YouTube site as well as on my main website that show what you are asking for.
If the injections are in the right muscles and in the right depth then there should nearly never be any risk of drooping (be it cheeks, lips, eyelids or eyebrows).
Thanks for sharing. It would have been nice if you had shown her up close smiling at the beginning so we could see her lines, then maybe show her results at the end of the video (shot a few weeks later). Have you ever seen droopy cheeks as a result of using botox under the eyes? I heard that is a possible side effect.
And it should scare you a bit. This is a medical procedure that must be performed by trained professionals. My technique has kept several thousand loyal patients coming back every few months for years because they like the results. But injection around the eyes is always a serious procedure and must not be taken lightly.
wow, your technique scares me, injecting toward the orbit, injecting the inferior orbicularis muscle. Or is it just the angle of the video camera?
Thanks, im going to see a Cosmetic doctor soon. Thanks again, you are the only person on youtube to respond.
I do not inject botox “by area.” Many doctors inject by area to make pricing uniform. I much prefer to inject and chanrge by dose (units). This way, each patient can be evaluated individually to see whats needed. Some may need botox under the eyelids and some just to the outer crows feet. Just depends. Its not a separate area but a continuation. As far as peels, I cannot make recommendations without seeing your skin first.
FYI, Glycolic is too weak for wrinkles. Even TCA can be weak.
Ok, i need to know if the under eye would be considered a separate area to the crows feet at the side of the eyes. When i smile i get wrinkles under the eye and at the side. They also extend quite far down my face.
What sort of peel would you reccomend? TCA? I tried Glycolic but it didnt work.
The needles are very small and millions of people tolerate it every year all around the world. There are topical numbing creams you can apply an hour before to make it practically painless.
The fact is that a peel or a laser can be an option despite Rosacea but if you continue to contract the muscles and not use Botox, the results of the peel or laser will be very small lived.
Hope this makes sense…
Thanks. Im not sure that i could cope with needles being inserted in my face every few months.
I would like something more permanant like a peel or something abrasive. I have mild rosecea. Does this limit my options?
Hi Lollie,
Botox works on “dynamic” wrinkles and not on “static” lines. What that means is that by relaxing muscle contracture, it prevents and also reduced the appearance of wrinkles. But, if you have lines and wrinkles that are present with your face at complete rest, these will not go away with Botox. You can use Botox to help not make them any deeper but lasers and peels are needed to reduce “static” wrinkles.
An experienced plastic surgeon can place botox under the eyelids as well.
Can botox reduce current wrinkles or does it only prevent?
Also on the crows feet, does Botox only treat those at the side of the eyes?
My loudest advice to you is be careful! You are young and you should search long and hard before you try anything in order to avoid making things worse in the hands of a “too aggressive” or inexperienced doctor. Excellent luck.
Most doctors do just place botox to the corners or (crows feet area). I go further inwards towards the lower eyelids to reduce wrinkles in that area. But, if you have hollowness then a safe filler like Juvederm or Restylane or stout would be best. For wrinkles, botox would work & for fine lines, Retin-A or peels and lasers work. The problem or problems need to be identified properly first as there are different treatments for each. Sometimes, combination treatments work best.
I’m in my 20’s but I have mild hollows under my eyes after losing about 16 pounds. They usually only show when I smile. I’ve heard some doctors only botox the very corners of the eyes, (that area doesn’t bother me at all). It’s the area under the eye that really bugs me. Does that require a filler and botox, or just one or the other?
Hi,
Botox works fantastic around the eyes. I have young patients in their 20’s that use it to PREVENT lines and I have people in their 70’s that use it to reduce the appearance of lines. I would have to see you and examine you but if there is lots of loose skin then you may require a “lifting” procedure with or without “resurfacing.” Alternatively, CO2 laser, or a Phenol peel may also be a fantastic option depending on your skin color and ethnicity. Today, we have more options than ever before.
Dr Naderi, i’m 38 and have very thin and loose/wrinkled eyelids which has developed in the last 2 years due to some aging but mostly due to massive weight loss, my question is…can botox help in this situation?? or do I need a more invasive form of correction?? (which i’m desperately trying to avoid. Thanks!
